The canvas Agostina Segatori in Café Tambourin could almost be described as one of the early works of the painter Vincent van Gogh. It was made in 1887 when the artist could not manage to pay for his meals. Therefore, he decided to paint paintings in exchange for the food. Thus it happened that after a while there were quite some paintings made by Van Gogh hanging in the cafe. Sadly, the relationship between him and Agostina came to a sad end. At a certain point, she was unable to hold on to the café due to financial reasons, and many of the paintings ended up in the donor's possession.
